Eddie Murphy plays Jim Evers, a workaholic real estate agent who runs a business with his beautiful wife, Sara Evers. Jim has been working so much that he hasn't had much time for family time which makes his wife very unhappy. One night, Sara receives a call from a mansion which the owners are apparently planning to sell. Jim sees this as a golden opportunity to make a lot of money, so, he forces his two kids and Sara to tag along to look at the house before they leave on a much needed family weekend vacation to the Lake.

At the Gracey Manor they meet the creepy butler (Terence Stamp) and his even stranger master Edward Gracey (Nathaniel Parker). Mr. Gracey becomes enamored with Sara, and they discover that Sara looks like Mr. Gracey's old girlfriend Elizabeth, who died young and they think it was suicide...or was it?

Due to a convenient storm, the Evers are forced to stay overnight but they soon realize they're there for a sinister reason...and their lives may be in danger...as they gradually learn the ghastly truth about the manor!

The entire premise of this film is based on a Disney theme park ride so the title pretty much says what the movie is basically about….. but I really enjoyed seeing Jennifer Tilly as Madame Leota, the Gypsy in the crystal ball.
