Hot Shots! Part Deux

"It's the sequel. I had to come."

Topper Harley (Charlie Sheen) is living in a Buddhist monastery, doing odd jobs for the locals, when he's recruited by the CIA to go on a top secret mission in Iraz to rescue some soldiers who were sent to rescue soldiers who were sent to rescue soldiers from Desert Storm.(you get the picture?)
He is joined by the President Thomas 'Tug' Benson ((the late and great Lloyd Bridges ), his past love interest Ramada Hayman (Valeria Golino) who is also on the same mission to save her "brilliant" husband Dexter (a pre-Mr. Bean Rowan Atkinson) and many others including Richard Crenna as Col. Denton Walters and Jerry Haleva as a really funny Saddam Hussein wearing women’s underwear ~gasp~ and Martin Sheen in a great cameo. At first he's reluctant but then he eventually agrees. Once there he unleashes hell and becomes a one-man army as he takes on everyone in sight.

This movie is basically a spoof of the Rambo movies starring Sylvester Stallone and Charlie Sheen runs around with a bandana and a crossbow killing people in Iraq and flexing his Rambo-like sweaty muscles. The film also plays on everything from Basic Instinct and even Disney's "The Lady and the Tramp" to making fun of the former President of the United States when he was in office. (George Bush Sr.'s famous vomiting episode.)

The tempo of this parody is very rapid with jokes like the "Geronimo" sketch being thrown from all directions and can best be described as a guilty pleasure. It's quite fascinating to see Charlie Sheen as a blend of Rambo and the way he keeps a straight face when there is absolute dumbness around is worthy of praise.
