Bringing Down the House
Uptight white folks collide with black pop culture
2.5/4 stars
Bringing down the House stars Steve Martin, Queen Latifah and a delightful Eugene Levy who delivers a good performance as the man who just can't get enough of the Queen.
Plot:
A divorced tax attorney finds himself lonely after his divorce and surfs a legal chat room where he meets lawyer girl. He takes her to be a slim white blonde and sets up a date, only to find that Charlene is actually a giant bodacious black felon who refuses to leave until he helps her clear her record, causing trouble with his ultra-conservative bosses and neighbours. The always funny Betty White is here too playing the ultimate white racist snob neighbour with some great lines and a pasty smile. Situations involved were hilarious at times and there are some funny and touching moments between Martin and The Queen.
