For those unfamiliar with Norse mythology, Thor is the God of Thunder who wields the powerful war-hammer forged out of a dying star and could only be held by a worthy warrior. He is from the mystical realm of Asgard, son of Wise King Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and next in line for the throne, but the Prince of Asgard is stripped of his powers and exiled to the Earth after an "incident" which enrages his father to learn a lesson about humility. While on Earth he meets three scientists (Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, and Stellan Skarsgard) who are trying to find out who and what he is. There's poignancy when Thor finds his hammer, Mjolnir, stuck in a rock, and realizes he could not pick it up even with all his might.

Meanwhile back on his planet, Thor's brother Loki(Tom Hiddleston) finds about his past, and uses the opportunity to rise to power as ruler of Asgard and take over the realm. When Thor faces off with the Destroyer, a giant robot sent down by Loki, and selflessly offers himself to end the destruction on Earth, it's a turning point in his character. And when his almighty power is restored in all its regal glory, Thor displays it wisely. The God of Thunder is now a dignified warrior.

The acting was great, Chis hemsworth as Thor was perfect but if you want to see Nick Fury... you gotta wait for the end of the credits! A great build up to the Avengers and I am also looking forward to seeing Tom Hiddleston as Loki there. Last but not least, what a visual marvel! Asgard is celestially fantastic, fits for Gods - glittering gold spheres, lustrous palace and a crystal bridge shimmering in a spectrum of colors.
