My Favorite Brunette

"My Favorite Brunette" by Yojimbo

A baby photographer impersonates a private detective and attempts to locate the missing uncle of a beautiful femme fatale.

Film Noir gets the Bob Hope treatment in this consistently amusing pastiche of the Sam Spade style detective story. The formula will be very familiar to those who know and love Bob Hope, featuring as it does a cowardly, inept hero who bumbles his way through a parody of the usual genre cliches with plenty of self-deprecating humour, one liners and slapstick along the way. Featuring both Dorothy Lamour and a typically funny cameo from Big Crosby, My Favorite Brunette is very much like a gumshoe version of a "Road To..." movie and with a supporting cast featuring names such as Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney and even Alan Ladd, it has all the ingredients to please fans of both Bob Hope and classic screwball comedy in general.
