The Postman (1997)

Best and Worst of a Cult Sci Fi Film
Dark Vengeance 9 - wrote on 08/26/11

The Postman is kind of a bizarre science fiction movie. It is one of the most unique Science Fiction movies; the characters, ideas, events, and plot are entirely unique to this film. I won't lie; I hate Kevin Costner (his acting is pretty bad through out the movie) but Will Patton does a great performance for the main antagonist General Bethlehem. The movie is set in the future where a group of militants overthrow the United States government and take control. Kevin Costner plays a wondering vagrant who takes on the role of a postman and creates morale for rebuilding the United States and fighting the militants. There is even a random minor character role for Tom Petty. The battle scenes in this movie are really cool and it is very politically charged. The movie has cool parts and really lame parts, so you end up with a good but heavily flawed film. If you like cult science fiction, this one is definitely recommended.
