Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Razzle Dazzle space adventure

The Force is calling to you. yeah! The most anticipated movie of the year, Star Wars The Force Awakens hits at theatres, and here we go. JJ Abrams knows how to build a plot that has nothing to speak about, just drive characters well known and new ones, to set the tone for the sequels. The Force Awakens, is a perfect start to the next one. Abrams and his team has given a visual razzle dazzle, emotional, action packed space adventure with suprisingly a great character development. The action kicks hard, be it the attack on Jakku (crazy space ships flying shooting beams at a garbage ship what they call in the movie), space fights, the light saber duels or the resistance attack, all gives a treat for the visual lovers. In 3D (I personally admit that I watched it in a pretty average multiplex, 3D was really good for the action part). I could remember the light saber duel, at the darkest hour of the day, just two beams clashing with each other in an immersive 3D experience. Not the depth, but the real sense of being there to some extent. The scene where, Kylo Ren stops a laser beam with his force was powerful and I thought wow! could have watched it a more greater lit screen. If I get a chance I will do again. Daisy Ridley and Boyega were great. Their chemistry was pitch perfect and with Harrison Ford, this force charges up. There were a bit low moments, in the film, especially the start was a bit slow, trying to develop each character, but leaving that aside, it was a well furbished 90 minute space adventure. I am saying 90, because rest of nearly 40 minutes was slow. Really slow. What to get here. The action scenes, the surprisingly great performance, humor that worked mostly really well, some emotional tone that was not to the depth though and the twists for the fanatics. The last shot of the movie, will really get everyone on their feet to wait for the next. BB-8 was a superb droid with interesting narrative. The map to locate Luke Skywalker was just average stuff, but all took me down when the climax shot gave me a push. One small advice, enjoy this film in 3D in a large screen with great brightness. For me the movie kicked goodies, but as an experience in the theater, I was not really impressive. I will catch it again if time permits. So fanatics, force is calling, for me and my regular movie goers, you won't say no to this crazy razzle dazzle space adventure. Take a ride.
