Sorry - I guess they're just calling it the Oscars now to be hip and cool - but anyway, for those who want to join me Sunday, I will again be live here at the forums following the Oscar ceremonies. So if you're going to be watching too - feel free to jump in with comments and what not. 02/21/2013

Hey hey! Awards coming up soon - I guess you can enjoy the red carpet festivities first. Here's hoping that Seth MacFarlance has a memorable (in the right way) opening. Just about an hour and half away! 02/24/2013

I think they need to remake every movie with sock puppets. What an absolutely insane opening. Now we have the first award - Best Supporting Actor

And Christoph Waltz is the winner!

I have to say - this was one award I really thought could have gone to anyone. Waltz was just as good in Django as Basterds and this award was deserved.

Best Animated Short Film:

Paperman

Which, I admit, is the only nominated animated short film I have seen this year - but it was really good!

Best Animated Feature Film:

Brave

While Brave was good - I was still hoping Wreck-It Ralph would win.

I'm a bit disappointed that Scarlett Johansson wasn't able to join the Avengers boys...

But here we are

Best Cinematography

Life of Pi

I haven't yet seen this one - but from all I have seen of previews, the cinematography is fantastic. The look of the film is unique - I hope to find out first hand before too long.

Best Visual Effects

Life of Pi

Once again - a visually-striking film that was a hit with critics and audiences trumps the billion-dollar franchise. Hey - it's much harder to make a CGI tiger seem realistic that a massive alien invasion... I guess.

Costume Design:

Anna Karenina

A period piece won the award!? No!  Actually, I am a bit surprised that Les Mis didn't get this one.

Man - Shirley Bassey has still got it!  Although Live and Let Die will always be my favorite - Goldfinger is one of the better Bond songs - and she can still prove it. 02/24/2013
