I suggest you remove skater4159. He blatantly rates movies he hasn't seen. Examples:
  • he rated Avatar when it was still in production
  • he often rates hundreds of random movies 2 stars, proving he has not seen them and is not giving time or thought to his rating
  • When I asked him about this, he admitted to not seeing the films and said he thought it would help people if he had a list of all the films in the database on his page
Again, could you remove him? He is a cheater. You are only encouraging cheaters if you do not remove him.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are going to be limiting and moderating new movie ratings (those that have not yet been released in the theater) by users in the coming months. This will help eliminate false rankings on new films. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about ratings of old films as it is impossible to say if a user has seen a movie or not, no matter how rare or obscure a film is.

Skater has chosen to create a profile that does not accurately reflect his viewing habits, which is unfortunate, but not against our terms and conditions at this point. We would hope that users would create a profile that is true to what they have watched and want to watch, which is the case for 99.9% of all users on this site. In addition we are working on ways to drastically improve the points system, encouraging a more competitive movie website.

However, don't punish those of us who view sneak-previews of films, sometimes a week or two before the wide-release date. For example, HDNET Movies will sometimes show a movie the Wednesday before the release. I think the next one will be Melancholia with Kirten Dunst. Also, Redbox will send out DVDs of films before the theater release dates, just to get people talking about the film and generate interest in it. (Much like the main reason I absolutely love this forum!) 10/23/2011

I myself receive screener copies of movies before they are released - if you actually rate and write reviews of films before they are in wide release, that is not the issue. Opinions are valuable - especially if it's for a film that hasn't opened in wide release. In fact, I highly encourage people to go to early screenings, sneak previews and anything else to get a jump - but please write a full or quick review when you're finished. Simply ranking a movie and moving on - including when you haven't seen it yet - isn't a big help. 10/24/2011
