has to be one of the weirdest movies ever put on film. Some may like it. Some may hate it, but I'm sure all will agree that it's freakin' weird. |

The weirdest movies I've ever seen are The Holy Mountain (La Montaña Sagrada), Gummo, and Dark City. |

Hello from NYC. This is a wonderful question to ponder. The way things are going in the USA and in the world, I don't even try to put together a weirdest movie list. I recently bought a copy of the movie Hard Candy and it ill take me a couple of weeks to understand what goes on towards the end. |

Hard Candy make me feel very uncomfortable - essentially a two-person show, it was a show-stopping performance from both Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson, however, it was hard to identify with either character. It's a very dark story and goes to some disturbing places, but I recommend watching it for the performances alone. |

I've seen so many 'weird' movies, it's hard to remember the strangest ones. Some of my favorites that come to mind are: Videodrome (gets better with each viewing), Jacob's Ladder (there is no line between reality and nightmare), Phantasm series (pretty much a living nightmare, much is left a mystery), Rocky Horror Picture Show (not much reason, but a lot of rhyme), Rubber (no explanation needed). |

Oh yes, Rubber should certainly be added to the list. Probably Human Centipede too - though I'm not sure that one is necessarily "weird" but for sure sick and disturbing. |

Hello from NYC, Chris aka Tarken: So far, I assume that most of the members have seen movies that I have not...and also the word 'weird' has lost its meaning. It is an interesting question to think about, but all I have to do is tune to a news tv channel and the question becomes forgettable. Currently, I am trying to figure out a way to write about a particular movie separate from this site. That movie from South Korea, The Isle, is supposed to be weird, but I'm going by what other people say which becomes pointless. I guess I am more attached to meaning than a movie that attacks meaning. Hope you'll stay in touch. |

Hello everyone - I see this is old thread, but I am a new one and the question is very interesting, so sorry for jumping in so late :)
Now almost like what the poster above said, my question to your question (and the matter of discussion :) would be - what do you for this thread consider weird? So far there were various movie suggestions here, I presume all valid :) For an example, I think every horror movie is weird by default, I guess it only depends on our level of tolerance how weird we deem them. and its sequels (seen only first) are good example of sick weirdness - and too, but I haven't seen it, nor wish to, like Chris said, because it's too sick and disturbing. But, if you are thinking of "ordinary" movies, that are supposed to depict our "everyday life and people" (as close as it is possible in the movies though), but that make you feel quite uncomfortable, then I would suggest and , if you have seen them? is on my to-see schedule too, but do not know how soon. The topic is really heavy. From the movies mentioned, I've seen
- yes, so confusingly weird I'll have to watch it again ;) same goes for but was a bit too slow and boring to want to see it again (maybe I just wasn't in mood), was impressive, wish to see it again soon, was disturbing, no way to see it again willingly :) |
