2 I watched recently:

Easy A
Starring Emma Stone, it's absolutely hilarious. She carries the film and does an excellent job in the process.

Resident Evil: Afterlife (especially in 3D Blu-ray)
Different film than Easy A, but awesome in its own right. They take the camera work to a new level in this one. If you can, definitely watch it in 3D.

I received so many movies over Christmas, it's not even funny. I'll be lucky to finish them all by next Christmas.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:

Amelie - This had been on my list to watch for a long time, and it was well worth the wait. If you need a movie to cheer you up, you won't find anything better.

Charade (1963 version) - One of the many Criterion films I now have. While I won't say it's quite as good as Hitchcock, it's still a great mystery and Hepburn and Grant work well together.

The El Mariachi trilogy. In my opinion, it's one of the most underrated trilogies in film. If you're a fan of Robert Rodriguez and you haven't seen them, please do yourself a favor and give em a watch.  El Mariachi Trilogy (El Mariachi, Desperado, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico) - All of them just came out on Blu-ray actually.

3 films this week.

Animal Kingdom. This is the best Crime Drama I have seen in a while. A female character in power (Jacki Weaver's character) definitel y offers a different dynamic from the more typical crime family. Such great character development too. Very impressed with David Mich˘d in his feature film debut. It would be tough for Jacki Weaver to win an Oscar for this role given her opposition, but I hope she at least gets the nomination, as she did at the Golden Globes.

Justified, the first season. Sort of a contemporary cowboy action series. Originally aired on FX. As far as I know, they're signed on for second season. It's Adapted from Elmore Leonard's stories Pronto, Riding the Rap, & Fire in the Hole. Timothy Olyphant is great as Raylan Givens. Gotta love the no bullshit approach to justice.

Virginity Hit. I originally found out about this movie from some posters on the subway advertising a "hotline for virgins." That makes me sound really cool. Anyways, long story short, I think this movie is hilarious.  Reviews were not great, but you have to keep in mind what you're dealing with: a teenage sex comedy. It's not supposed to win Oscars, it's supposed to be stupid and hilarious - which it is. Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay. Also has an AMAZING cameo by Rock N Roll GREAT and former Creed frontman Scott Stapp. I shit you not.

Virginity hit looks pretty terrible. Any nudity in it? Animal Kingdom does sound good, but not sure I can say that I have heard much about it. Do you have a review for it? 01/20/2011

I don't have one particular review in mind, but RT has a boatload of them. And it has a 96%, which is high for RT. See below:

btw - I dont think virginity hit has very much nudity. Maybe a brief shot of some boobs. Kind of surprising, considering all the sex talk in it.

Yeah, I saw Animal Kingdom.

I watched a boatload of films old and new recently:

The Godfather - Yes, I've owned this for about two years, but I just finally got around to watching it. All the praise is justified, simply put one of the best character-driven crime dramas ever made. I haven't watch II or III yet, but rest assured I will.

Lawrence of Arabia - Another film I've put off watching for far too long. It's very epic in scope and length - but it's really amazing to see how they can pull off such a large-scaled project. Today everything would be CGI and it's just not the same.

Antichrist - I'm a fan of films that push the envelope, and this fits the bill. Lars Von Trier never tones things down. This is a very dark film and not for everyone's taste due to the sex and violence - I found it disturbing at points but ultimately satisfying.
