So here we are, another year gone by. Granted, this year wasn't filled with too much suspense. Aside from the whole Hurt Locker vs. Avatar, the acting awards were pretty much set before they were handed out. But I think they were all deserved.  So, here they are:

Kathryn Bigelow for

Best Actor:
Jeff Bridges in

Best Actress:
Sandra Bullock in

Best Supporting Actor
Christoph Waltz in

Best Supporting Actress:
Mo'Nique in

Best Animated Film:

Best Original Screenplay:
Mark Boal for

Best Adapted Screenplay:
Geoffrey Fletcher for

Best Documentary:

Best Foreign Language Film:
Argentina's

Best Original Score:
Michael Giacchino for

Best Cinematography:
Mauro Fiore for

Best Visual Effects

Best Sound Editing:
Paul N. J. Ottoson for

Best Sound Mixing:
Paul N J. Ottoson and Ray Beckett for

Best Original Song:
"The Weary Kind" written by Ryan Bingham and T-Bone Burnett for

Best Art Direction:

Best Costume Design:
Sandy Powell for

Best Film Editing:
Bob Murawski and Chris Innis for

That's it! Did the deserving win or were the losers robbed? Hurt Locker was the night's biggest winner and Bigelow made history by becoming the first woman to win a best director Academy Award. Was Avatar snubbed or was it undeserving of the big awards? And why wasn't there any foreign films in the horror montage? I mean, what's up with that?  Anyway, let the speculating begin!

The Hurt Locker will be forgotten in 5 years, much like Shakespeare in Love. Not too pleased about it being the best picture. It is a good movie, but not that good. Bastards was much better, so was District 9 and Avatar.  Only time will tell though. 03/09/2010

While I can't speak for every film nominated, I have seen The Hurt Locker and I agree - while it was a good film with standout characters, it just doesn't seem that memorable. I think Jarhead left a bigger impact with me and it's nowhere near as good as last year's Slumdog Millionaire. I don't know if I'll go so far as put it in Shakespeare in Love territory, but I can't say it was the most deserving either. 03/09/2010

Solid movie, but not Oscar worthy. I did not feel that any of them were really that deserving as a best picture other than Avatar. Yeah the Dialogue was bad but it is the only epic film on the stage and none of the other non epic movies did anything new or different. No amazing performances, no new ways of telling a story, and nothing truly special. 03/10/2010

The Oscars are over?? Ok I don't watch them, but at least Basterds won something they can melt down and use as a bullet. Damn awards shows are lame. 04/27/2010
