Best Picture: Drama

No one has actually been able to see this yet except critics.  It is unfortunate that most of us have to wait until December 25th to view it.  I hope it is as good as they say.

The same goes for this flick.  With Ron Howard at the helm I am a little scared.  He has done some really good movies but they also seem so average in their direction in my opinion.

I put this one down as prediction earlier.  I don't really know a whole lot about this film other than it seems like I have seen this movie many times before.

Now this looks really good.  It has two great things going for it - one of my favorite actors and a director that excels at average dramas that puts a nice spice to it to make the flavor stand out.

A couple on our site have seen this movie.  But, I still don't know much about it other than the fact that the trailer looks terrible to me.  This one coul be a yawner but everyone keeps telling me no.

Best Picture: Comedy/Musical

I gave my review to this film.  I thought it was good (3 stars) but nothing special. Fun to see at least once

Happy-Go-Lucky
We should have  reviews for this film.

Many people are saying this is a great movie. The trailer looked kind of funny but I don't think it is supposed to be super amazing (though it is in our top ten for 2008

Not sure how I feel about this flick.  I don't usually care for musicals unless they are really good.  This could be entertaining for about 30 minutes.

I don't think I need to see this one, but I probably will.

So here they are!  Click on the pics to check them out.   I am surprised The Dark Knight did not get nominated and I am also surprised that Milk was not nominated.

What are your guy's picks so far?  Obviously many of these have not come out yet.  I can't believe mamma mia was nominated.  Must have been because it was one of the few musicals. 12/22/2008

Uhhh...I hope not.  I hope it is something like Wall E.  That would be a shock. 12/31/2008

I was amazed that The Dark Knight didn't get nominated for a best picture.  I am not saying it should win but it was worthy of a nomination.  What sucks is I haven;t seen a single movie nominated.  A lot of them haven't been out here in lincoln yet so I hope to see them when they get here or rent them when they come out. 01/04/2009

The small budget movies seem to get the eyes of the HW Foreign Press.  Slumdog Millionaire has picked up a lot of steam and is showing in some regular theaters now.  I prefer the action movies anyway. 01/04/2009

I think Vicky Christina Barcelona is pretty much going to win the Musical/Comedy, unless Happy Go Lucky pulls off an upset.  For drama I'd say Benjamin Button is the early favorite, but Slumdog Millionaire is picking up steam every day.  I wouldn't be surprised if it wins. 01/05/2009

I have seen all the nominees except for the Reader, I would give Forst Nixon the award for Drama and I would give In Bruges the award for comedy or musical. 01/05/2009

Pick pick is none of these (so far).  I still haven't seen a couple but I am unimpressed.  Benjamin Button is my favorite out of these and maybe Burn After Reading for comedy - but even that lacked lasting power.  Maybe the Oscar picks will be better. 01/07/2009

Only a few days left to watch it.  I will turn it off after the movie awards are done.  Who needs TV. 01/07/2009
