What is the most shocking ending you can recall? Mine is probably Fight Club - I totally did not see Brad Pitt as Ed Norton. Simply Genius flick. |

I would have to go with the Usual Suspect here. That was such an awesome ending to a movie and I was completely blind sided by it. |

Those are both Sweet. I was shocked at the departed when Leo's head got blown off. |

One shocking ending to me was from A History of Violence- it left the viewer to contemplate what she/he would do if her/his father was an ex-mob member with a dual identity that had killed countless people. Not terribly shocking in terms of a twist, but the whole WTF?!? feeling that stuck with me after it was over was crazy.
Props to Usual Suspects! |

Yeah, I liked that too. What about how bad the end was for No Country For Old Men. Why was Tommy Lee Jones talking at the end? |

I would have to say "The Crying Game" was the most shocking for me, especially since I managed to avoid any spoilers before I saw it. |

I thought The Others had a great twist to the end, I didn't see that one coming, and I should have, considering I figured out The Sixth Sense halfway through it.
Not really a "shock" but I found the final scene in Michael Clayton where George Clooney and Tilda Swinton incredible (Clooney: "do I LOOK like I'm negotiating?!")
I've seen Slumdog Millionaire twice, and both times the audience gasped when Jamal's final question is asked - it's always cool to be at a movie where the audience is so into the movie. |

Many of the films Peter Fonda did in the late '60s/early '70s have shocking endings: "Easy Rider," "The Hired Hand," "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry," "Race with the Devil." Not necessarily "twists," more just "whoa, I didn't expect that." "Jules et Jim" also had a pretty shocking ending, I thought. |
