The Holidays are fast approaching.  Since this time of the year is supposed to be fun and full of laughter my top holiday movies include comedies.  I don't know if we will ever come accross such a movie as "A Christmas Story."  But - here are my favorites in order.  Amy I missing any?

10. Miracle on 34th street- A Santa clause based film, which is nice and probably the best one where Santa Clause is the main character. It is thoroughly pleasant and I am glad that it keeps him a mystery throughout.

9. Frosty the Snowman- A good cartoon that is fun, and colorful in its animation.

8. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer another fun Christmas film. This time with stop animation which I feel is the best looking use of it in the pure Christmas genre.

7. Charlie Brown Christmas- I like this one because it actually tells the true meaning of Christmas and does not back out. And again it is a nice pleasant cartoon.

6. How the Grinch stole Christmas- The best Dr. Seuss animated short. It is very well done and accurate to the book. Boris Karloff's narration is great as is the song sung by  Thurls Ravenscroft.

5. Scrooge (1970)- The musical version of scrooge. I could have filled this list with Scrooges but I limited to ones that are different in some way. This one has some nice songs, despite an odd portrayal of scrooge by Albert Finney. The best part of this one is the great performance by Alec Guniness as Jacob Marley. He is just amusing to watch and he makes two apperances in this version unlike in most other versions. The extra long ghost of christmas future makes for a great surprise.

4. Scrooged- A comedy modern interpretation of Scrooge. A great performance by Bill muarry. It is very funny but still keeps the message of scrooge intact.

3. It's a wonderful life- A great film that is very uplifting adn well Wonderful.  What i really like thought is the chracter of Mr. Potter and the performance behind him by lionel Barrymoore. He just really is pure evil and it is a great foil to Jimmy Stewart's George Bailey. The Story is complete and I like it because the main chracter is not overly good, but it shows that a person with flaws can still do a lot of good.

2. A, Christmas story- A funny christmas film which really represents how a kid sees christmas. Most people love this film and I do too. I do think they overdue it with the 24 hours on some television networks though. How Various christmas movie marathon instead.

1. A christmas carol 1951.  The best Christmas movie to me. It is the type that never gets old. Its performance from Alastair Sim is so good becuase I think he is the only actor to be both a believable cool and calculated buissness man and make a believable transformation into the frinedly kind man. Not only that it is shot well with many great chracter actors esepcially the turkey like man who plays old joe. I also like the addition of extra scenes that give the whole story of why scrooge became a bitter buisness man.

The only thing I know is that the Holiday is not a good movie.  My favorite is Christmas Vacation...hands down! 01/04/2009
