The last movie I saw Jim Carrey in was Yes Man - which is a pretty mediocre comedy all-around (even if it is one of the few films to feature good old Nebraska). His choices recently seem all over the place: I Love You Phillip Morris is decidedly different from A Christmas Carol. And the less said about The Number 23, the better. He's very inconsistent - I have nothing against him personally, but I don't understand his process for choosing roles anymore.

I've seen Jim Carrey act in "The Majestic", but in most other movies his character is not well defined.  This is one of those movies.  "Mr. Popper's Penguins" is lacking in both plot and direction. As the anchor of this movie, Jim choo ses to ad-lib and throw in slapstick. What results is a big waste, even with the talents of Angela Lansbury.
