West Side Story, imo, is a film that I never get tired of watching over and over again, whether it be on a great big, wide screen, in a real movie theatre, with the lights down low, or on television.  Many people with elaborate, expensive home-theatre systems claim, however, that the experience of watching a great classic film such as West Side Story on such an elaborate home entertainment system is just like seeing it in a real movie theatre.  I could not disagree more with that opinion.  West Side Story cries to be viewed on  a great big, wide movie theatre screen, with the lights down low, and a whole bunch of other people to share the experience with, whether one knows them or not.  Since West Side Story is  my all time favorite movie, and my friends and family, etc., aren't nearly as into it as I am, I mostly go solo to screenings of this great classic, and watch it solo, on TV, also.  Yet, I also admit that attending the film with other people can also heighten and enrich the whole experience of seeing West Side Story even further.  West Side Story sends sort of a dual message;  The destructive consequences of hatred and prejudice, and the senseless of the resulting gang violence.  Yet, West Side Story also provides a ray of hope at the end;  that reconciliation between people, as difficult as it often can be, is possible.
