You have got to love Christian Bale's ability to simply transform for a role - with body language, speech and fantastic makeup effects he's an uncanny doppleganger for the Cheney. The rest of the cast, especially Amy Adams and Steve Carelle, shine as well. Much like he did with The Big Short, Adam McKay conveys a dark period in politics under a veneer of humor. It will make you both smile and shudder.

It wasn't smooth. Things came out to be a bit pushy. You would never be sure which is true and which only appears to be true. Uncomfortable to watch. Not for everyone. That's what the film is, SO IS THE POLITICS.

With end results that are both clever and nonsensical, "Vice" proves to be as messy and haphazard as many of the policies the real Dick Cheney pushed for.
