Plot: Deep within each smartphone the emojis live their lives in the messaging app city of Textopolis. Each emoji has their set face, hoping to get chosen by the user - even emoji, except Gene. With no filter, Gene is able to express multiple emotions - and feels like an outcast because of it. Hoping to fix his broken code, he enlist the help of his friend Hi-5 and the more nefarious Jailbreaker as they set off on adventure across multiple apps to see if they can fix his problem. When a larger danger threatens to shut down the phone for good, the three will have to figure out how to make things right before everything is lost. -- Chris Kavan

"The Emoji Movie" is bafflingly sad and ill-conceived. The humor isn't funny, the characters are annoying, the story is predictable, and and the concept (aside form imitating superior animated features) makes little sense. The final straw? Being little more than a cynical and glorified product that panders to modern subculture.

not sure if I am a good judge for this movie or not considering I only got to see half of the movie but the portion I saw was really cute I don't get all the haters personally I thought it was sweet and funny maybe not as funny as the previews looked but still great one of my favorites was the badass jailbreak now she was cool everyone else was cute too though I would recommend keeping an open mind with this one like I said only got to see half the movie but I did like what I saw of it and I recommend the movie to anyone looking for brainless fun for an hour and a half

Plot: The Film Focuses On An Emoji Named Gene Who Is The “Meh” Emoji (T.J. Miller) Who Has Other Emotions Besides “Meh”. The Film Takes Place In Textopia Which Is Essentially The Environment For The Emoji Characters. The Emoji’s Must Stick To Their One Emotions And Cannot Feel Any Other Emotion.
