"Dead Men Tell No Tales" is the fifth installment in this exhausted franchise that should have sunk 10 years ago. Remember how grand and epic these movies were, but with the unfinished effects, predicable scenes, and over rushed storyline, it looses the magic. You just wish that Javier Bardem character would just impale Captain Jar Jar Binks with his sword and be down with it. I was rooting for the villain through the whole thing. Fuck Jack Sparrow!

I'd put this one somewhere on par with the first two. It takes a more serious tone but still has some light hearted bits. Javier Bardem shines And Geoffrey Rush brings his best again. Time to reinvest in the franchise after two very bad sequel.s

incoherent nit picky review

Perhaps it was the fun and expectation of seeing another chapter in the series that I enjoyed it when it first came out. Unfortunately after rewatching it now, the tiny sections of fun are far outweighed by the forced and contrived coincidences of events that drive the plot. There's no setup to some of the minor subplots. *****SPOLERS**** For example, Captain Barbosa being a parent. What a wasted opportunity that subplot was. They did the whole back story and reveal in like two minutes. I frankly didn't care at that point. I had no reason to want them to live happily ever after together. In fact, that's pretty much problem of the entire movie. Unlike the original Curse of the Black Pearl where we rooted for at least one of the love triangles to come true (most for William and Elizabeth) b...

It's a good enough ending. Is that spoiler free?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a solid addition to the one franchise in Hollywood I'm sure no one saw coming, that one swashbuckler series based off a theme park ride. Who know?

Anyway, Dead Men Tell No Tales revisits the drunken rascal Captain Jack Sparrow who must thwart yet another supernatural villain to save his own hide-and the world if he must. This new foe is ghost pirate Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) whose ghastly crew include phantom sailors, zombie sharks, and a ship which devours other vessels. Despite this impressive arsenal, Salazar desires the Trident of Poseidon which controls the ocean. Therefore, Jack Sparrow must reunite with Barbossa and a pair of young twentysomethings (Kaya Scoledario; Brenton Thwaites) that play the "will they or won't...
