Rocky reduced to a hideous schmaltz-fest and little more than a brainless, half-arsed soap opera. |

I agree with most everyone that this is the weakest of the series, though I don't consider it a 'bad' movie. Sure, it has it's flaws, but I still liked the film for it's non-predictable story and the ending that I feel leaves a fitting end to the series. |

This is by far the worst of the entire "Rocky" series. The message wasn't very good and the film was even hated on by Stallone himself. However, I don't think its quite as bad as people say it is. But then again, its not that good, either. |

This is not a good Rocky which attempts to bring him back to the streets. The story is repetitive and uninteresting. It's points of non violence is pointless, and most of the acting is rather poor. Either it is uninteresting or boring. Stallone gives his worst performance as Rocky, taking the brain damage part of Rocky way too far, giving an extremely odd performance. The film's final cut scene actually is pretty fun to watch, and it is satisfying, but none of the rest of the film is. |

Even counting Rocky Balboa, this is easily the worst in the series. Kind of like Superman IV or Batman and Robin, it tarnishes the entire series. Just skip this one and pretend it only exists in an alternate universe. |

Rocky V review |
|
In Rocky V as we all know his kid was still small, I guess time flies after a fight from Russia. His family becomes financially in trouble and sells his stuff. He meets Tommy Gunn (Tommy Morrison) and trains him. Robert (Sage Stallone) becomes envious of Tommy and his father. The screenplay was well thought of with quotes from Rocky - “We just gotta stick together.” Robert - “It ain’t last year and you ain’t the same either.” Adrian – “You can’t live backwards.” You’re never too old to learn something new. Topics of a strained father son relationship, bullying, reputation and parenting were represented well. The flashbacks with Mickey were executed tastefully and humor was present. Acting here was solid and drama authentic. At least this was way better than Rocky IV. Rocky V ... |
