Rating of

An awfully disappointing drama detailing the efforts of East German families to construct a hot air balloon to carry them into West Germany. So many little blunders, like the ridiculous accents by the American actors and the fact that an old saleslady remembers intricate details about a customer more than a year later; film skimps on a lot of the details and is only partially successful during its balloon flights despite a fine cast. Final Grade: C-
