A cast of Hollywood stars attempt to garner some credibility by attempting Shakespeare. A decent adaptation which depends entirely on your ability to stomach Shakespearean comedy. Which I can't. |

A great adaptation of Shakespeare's play full of romance, comedy, and pure wit. Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson are excellent as Benedick and Beatrice. And Michael Keaton had my family in stitches. |

Shakespeare fans rejoice! Not all has been lost of the Bard's noble work. Under the careful supervision of one of Shakespeare's biggest enthusiasts Kenneth Branagh, "Much Ado About Nothing" is the perfect choice for a film. Set in a lush, beautiful country estate, the lower middle class rally and wed with blissful and blithe humor. Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh (at the time were husband and wife) have wonderful on-screen chemistry together. The only issue I found was Keanu Reeves (honestly, how does he keep getting work?) The greatest point I saw was with Michael Keaton (more Oscars needed for him). |

If you're a Shakespeare fan, this is a charming, fun adaption of his play. Branagh and Thompson are great as the long time rivals who discover (with a little scheming by their friends) that they love each other. Keanu Reeves was awful in this film. He was completely unbelievable as the bad brother of the prince and he couldn't pull of an English accent to save his life. A surprisingly good, albeit short, performance by Michael Keaton. Lots of scheming, romance, trickery and laughs for everyone. |
