Although an avid Bond fan, I find as I rewatched a few of the older bonds especially the ones starring Roger Moore (Who was at one time my fave Bond till Pierce Brosnan came along) I shake my head wondering what I was thinking ? As they all are so cheesy...That being said The Man With The Golden Gun takes the cake when it comes to cheese...cheesy one liners....cheesy special effects(The AMC Matador that sprouts wings and turns into a plane is just hilarious) I guess these are all things that make for a Bond film (Not lately) especially one that was produced in the early 70's? This was not one of my fave Ian Fleming stories that's for sure. |

My personal favourite of the Moore Bond films. It's major assets are it's strong central theme (duality) and it's villain, played by the inimitable Christopher Lee. The script is also brisk and sharp, with an increased focus on espionage and a James Bond far more cutthroat than the one seen in the previous installment. Has an underrated theme song, too. |

Another dreary effort by Moore with cheesy humour and appallingly sexist stereotyping. Christopher Lee and his diminutive "ally" Nik Nak make superior villains though. |

This one I'm split on. I don't like the new direction the series starts to take here, but I do like a good amount of the film. I enjoy the cheesy aspects of this one more than all the other Roger Moore Bond films. |

Not one of the better Bonds made, The Man with Golden Gun goes a little too far into the cornball factor. The lack of action and a less-than-stellar story also hamper this entry into the Bond machine. |

A solid Bond flick. |
|
Scaramanga: "You see, Mr. Bond, like every great artist, I want to create an indisputable masterpiece once in my lifetime; the death of 007".
The story is about a a scientist working on a solar cell winds up dead, Bond investigates the murder and finds it leading to $1 million hitman Scaramanga. But Bond also makes himself a target for the deadly assassin who holds a healthy respect for Bond, but doesn't mean he won't take down the spy.
In my opinion The Man with the Golden Gun is a solid Bond film with great action and a good theme song. But the biggest thing that held this movie down for me was the main character himself James Bond. At the start of the movie he was a big jerk, like he tried to break a girl arm to try to get answers out of but she didn't know nothing, B... |
