The beginning is eyelid-droopingly slow, and I didn't think the couple made a heroic decision, but the rest of the movie is a beautiful testament to the brotherhood of man. However, in a world that embraces the madness of battle, you will often be persecuted for choosing peace.

This is a fantastic movie! Based on actual events of WW1, it shows the true casualities of war and the ability of human spirit to see beyond propaganda.It has a German actor I like very much-Daniel Bruhl-He just had a cameo role in the new Bourne movie-look for him in future american movies.Great cast!!
