Another example of the usual Hollywood "lame remake of the original" sequel formula. Inoffensive but utterly pointless.

A commendable sequel to the first film with Kathleen Turner returning as a famous romance novelist Joan Wilder, Michael Douglas as Jack Colton and Danny DeVito as greedy little Ralph who has his heart set on acquiring the "Jewel" of the Nile. This time our novelist is suffering from writer’s block and gets mixed up with a Sheik when she agrees to write his biography. When she is kidnapped, Jack and Ralph have to come to her rescue. Jewel of the Nile is a funny action movie and includes a hilarious scene where they trek through the desert with some angry Muslims hot on their heels. Worth a look if you prefer desert to jungles and the youthful Micheal Douglas is handsome and stylish as the dare-devil hero.

Although not as good as the original Romancing the Stone, the chemistry between Douglas and Turner is still the driving forces behind the film, and it still works. A little more silly this time around, but a good mix of action, romance and comedy - if you're an 80s fan.

Not as good at the Romancing the Stone, but still pretty good. A good fun movie. Douglas and Turner have great chemistry once again.
