Kevin Smith makes a lighter and more traditional comedy and, in so doing, loses some of his edge. The film is still remarkably funny with the requisite Smith comedy family cameos, and Ben Affleck is certainly under-rated as a comic actor.
I really like this movie a lot. Raquel Castro is adorable, and I love Liv Tyler. Ben...oh Ben. But this is a really cute movie. It one's of those movies that just puts a smile on your face.
