Between the absence of Jason (in form) and the added back story, this one will split fans of the series. I don't consider it the worst of the series, but it's still low on my list.

This is bar-none the goriest entry in the series, but it also marks the point where the movie franchise takes revenge on it's loyal fans. Until now, the anti-hero that is Jason Vorhees was somewhat of a mystery. Nobody seems to be able to kill him. He is a super-zombie like Solomon Grundy in the DC comics... O.K., Grundy can talk so it's not exact, but you get the idea.
However, now Jason's secret is revealed. There is a giant worm creature living in him and it is attempting to kill off the Vorhees line. Huh?!? Yes. Oh, and it can only be killed by a magical dagger. CJP, you be lying and crazy!!! No, that is the plot and the worm starts jumping from body to body. When it is finally stabbed with the magic dagger the heavens open and a ray of pure light kills Jason... or Jason's worm, …
