Hellboy has some great characters to carry along the quite weak story line. Some witty lines from ron perlman add some humour to the story and the effects are pretty good to. overall not bad. |

In the glut of superhero films, Hellboy stands above most of the crowd. It has great and memorable characters and villains - a smart plot, great direction and it's just plain fun to watch. It may not be the best, but it's one of the better. |

Hellboy: The Fire and the Smoke |
|
"Hellboy" is a stylish film, but the story is actually a little muddled and hard to follow. I found the sequel to be a much better film.
As always, I monitored the film for tobacco-use. The cigar-chomping Hellboy, as well as three other characters, smoked during the film on 12 separate scenes, earning the film a SmokeScreeners rating of 4 Butts. http://tinyurl.com/ca5x29 |

|
Very entertaining film, a little bit darker than most super-hero movies, which works for this story. It's an action-packed movie with a lot of pyrotechnics, the story line is a little confusing, but it didn't have to be crystal clear with this type of movie. It's a good showcase of del Toro's action type directing style. |

Hellboy definitely keep my short attention span entertained. I think they could have added more background information. Besides that it was hilarious and had plenty of action. Meaning shooting, killing, and fighting and stuff that keep your average teenager happy. |
