Plot: In 1959, Florence Green, local widow and free spirit, opens the first bookshop in the town of Hardborough, England. Fighting apathetic townspeople, she slowly, but surely, brings about a mini-revolution in a town where nothing has changed for nearly a century. She opens minds with the literature of the day, including the scandalous Lolita and daring Fahrenheit 451, but even as people join with her, she finds just as much opposition, laying the groundwork for a political showdown. -- Chris Kavan
