Absolutely dreadful. In every single possible way a film could be. The Director and the rest of the film makers should be ashamed of themselves. |

Could have been much better |
|
When I was a kid, I never read the "Ghost Rider" comic books published by Marvel Comics Group. I am only familiar with the character when he made a guest appearance in one of the titles I did read. So, since I had heard of the character, I was pretty interested when I saw that a live-action adaptation was coming to theaters even if they cast one of my least favorite actors in the lead role.
The teenage "Johnny Blaze" (Matt Long) is following his father (Brett Cullen) into a life of being a motorcycle stunt rider at a circus. To complicate things, his girlfriend, "Roxanne Simpson" (Raquel Alessi) is moving away under orders of her father. To complicate things either further, his father is dying of cancer.
Just as he is preparing to leave his father and the circus behind to go after... |

Too much CG |
|
This movie could have been very good had they not felt they needed so many special effects. The story is interesting and the characters have the potential of being worth watching but nothing is really explored. The acting is over the top and I didn't buy the relationship between Cage and Mendez. The only character that I liked was Sam Elliot's and he is always good in pretty much everything.
Overall, not the best Marvel film by far. Steer clear and stick to the Spider-Man's or the X-Men's. |

Better CGI would have improved this movie |
|
I attribute a lot of the problems with this movie to the CGI of the film. The concept was a good idea. Growing up Ghost Rider was one of my favorite comics to read. When I saw that they were doing this movie I thought it could be decent, but when I began to see a lot of the CG work I could see that the flaws were huge, and they would be very difficult to overcome. Nicholas Cage did a good job as he always does, Eva Mendes was looking great, and she played her part well, Donal Logue also did a good job. The thing that disturbed me was the fact that while the fire looked great, the textures on the skull were poor (they look plastic) which tells me the texturing and lighting was off. When the transformation occurred his voice changed into a really cheesy supposed to be "demonic" voice... it ... |
