Yes I get the point that the comic was dark. I read it. What works as a graphic novel doesn't translate well on film let alone an animated one. It's as shamelessly sleazy as the Schumacher films were shamelessly campy. The only positive thing was the voice cast who deserve a better story.

Batman: The Killing Joke

It's been awhile since I read the graphic novel but when I found out they were making an animated movie based on the book, I was excited, I couldn't wait to see it then when I found out it was being shown on HBO & not The Cartoon Network like I expected it was going to be, I was even more excited.I thought it was going to be (For some stupid reason) exactly like the graphic novel.I guess it's true, the book is always better than the movie.Watching Batman: The Killing Joke was like watching an episode/movie of Batman: The Animated Series but with sex & extreme violence. This movie was not for the kids.Since it was more like watching Batman: The Animated Series, the sex & extreme violence felt unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the movie at all.If this movie was supposed to be...

Half of the Best Adaptation

Based on one of the most interesting examination of the relationship between Batman and The Joker. I had read this comic before and admired it's seriously adult take on the two opposing psyches of it's main characters. Some of that is present in this (mostly) faithful adaptation of the classic story. Most of the dialogue and panels are lifted directly from the source material. The whole intent of the narrative is still intact, with some minor helpful adjustments for translating into a full-on animated piece. The voice acting - from alumni's of the outstanding 90's animated series - is terrific. It's pretty much everything a straight-forward adaptation should be. Wait, I'm speaking of the second half of this film. There's a first half of brand new material used specifically as a me...

Batman: The Killing Joke - Movie Review

Well this was a flat joke.

Batman: The Killing Joke is one of the best graphic novel ever written by Alan Moore. It's dark, haunting and really engaging. It took two iconic characters Batman/Joker and dissects the relationship between the two and how both of them tick. It's such an interesting storyline that was pulled off so magnificently. I'm not a comic book reader myself but I do consider the graphic novel to as brilliant. Word quickly spread that a movie adaption was on it's way and I sure was excited for it.

Bruce Timm and Sam Liu were directing. Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy
Tara Strong and Ray Wise are set to star. It's based on the most beloved graphic novel ever.

What's not to get excited.

And then I saw the movie and I wasn't impressed. This was very disappointing si...
