If not for some genuinely impressive action scenes, Arnold Schwarzenegger's action thriller ERASER might have wound up even more forgettable than his later film COLLATERAL DAMAGE. It does benefit from the supporting work by James Caan and James Coburn. Sadly that's nearly derailed by the intrusive insertion of Robert Pastorelli's boorish comic relief. Vanessa Williams at first seems like she'll be an interesting female sidekick for Schwarzenegger. But soon she is demoted to being simply another damsel in distress. It has a forgettable evil scheme jumpstarting the plot but it does allow for some good set pieces and Schwarzenegger is reliable as ever.

I remember enjoying the sound effects for this flick. John Kruger (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was tasked to protect Lee Cullen (Vanessa L. Williams), a Cyrez Executive. The action and humor was okay but the supporting cast delivers. Nothing too fascinating or groundbreaking, Eraser still is an enjoyable ride for action freaks.

A clumsy action thriller that's main selling point is a few harrowing and inventive action sequences. The cast is under-used and Schwarzenegger spits out cheesy lines like no other. The film is watchable as entertainment, but doesn't offer much more.

Instead of taking itself too seriously, this is actually quite funny due to its campy one-liners and colorful characters. Arnold Schwarzenegger is really likeable in this film because he is able to provide comfort for the characters who need protecting, but at the same time killing those who want to harm them. Vanessa Williams is a good leading lady for this role because she’s actually given things to do and she’s able to work with her plucky persona. James Caan is an effective villain because he actually goes wherever Schwarzenegger goes and tries to kill the protagonist whenever he could instead of waiting in a room for the final battle. Also, I thought this film was creative because it was able to …
