The most psychological and violent of all the Batman animated films I've seen thus far. This boasts a cool, gritty story and exciting action. Enjoyable, but not for the very young.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1

A futuristic premise of Gotham City with an aged and heftier Batman. Well voiced and fairly paced. The soundtrack adds to the dark premise. It also introduces a new Robin, which this rater is familiar since a copy of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel. The film stays true to the story and violence. A great start to a two part series which boasts a Bane like antagonist with hundreds of followers/mutants. Sad to see the Commissioner retire. Alfred's role was critical as always while Kelley is a welcome addition. It never felt like an animated flick and the action sequences were well planned. Definitely progressive and violet for an animated flick, which brings in the realism of it all. Batman fanatics should not miss this. If this was bloody, wait until you view part 2.
