I love JGL as an actor so it was sad to me that this movie was so disappointing. I tried to push through until the end but I fell asleep. The characters weren't credible, and I found the drama to be a bit dull.

Ever since seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt for the first time in 08's Stop Loss i pretty much make a point to see all his films now good or bad. I have mixed feelings about Premium Rush although an interesting premise, something about the film seemed somewhat low key. Enjoyed Michael Shannon's performance of the bad cop in the film and the cgi used to map out Levitt's bike routes (With the bad routes and escape routes showing Levitt's premeditating his getting hit by cars.) Although the rest of the film was just meh for me. One thing this movie did do and that was have a new respect for bike couriers or cyclists in general. Expecially in new york!

Premium Rush is a chase film about a bike messenger (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who is trying to outrun a corrupt police detective (Michael Shannon). The film does not have all that much that makes it special. It tries a little too hard to make us care about the story around the mcguffin. It comes up with a few things with the bicycle twist, but frankly the hipster messengers get a little annoying after awhile. The best part of the film is easily Michael Shannon as the villian. He chews the scenary in just the right way, and frankly his very entertaining turn is what kept me invested in the film. He deserves a better send off than he gets at the end of the film, but he is so enjoyable that the film can be recommended simply for his portrayal.

Premium Rush review

Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a New York City bicycle messenger encounters an eager cop named Bobby Monday (Michael Shannon) who needs a package. He refuses the request and the chase ensues for the mysterious package. Without the leads, this would now have been that electrifying. Joseph Gordon-Levitt seemed fit for the physical role while the enigmatic underrated talents of Michael Shannon shows his acting chops especially during his confrontations with the biker. Spectacular choreography on the streets were magnificent, much like Playtime with the usage of certain settings. Soundtrack was very applicable to the mood and the plot was well paced. The directions on Wilee's phone was detailed and was a nice touch. Only thing from keeping this from becoming great was its believability...

'Premium Rush' Movie Review

I need to make a confession: I’m not a huge fan of “cyclists”. I don’t mean people who go on casual bike rides through the countryside, or a quick spin around their neighborhood with their kids. I mean the ones who wear spandex shorts, and jerseys, and look like they have 1% body fat. The ones who fly through intersections while the rest of us impatiently wait our turn at the stop sign. I even had the chance to watch a leg of the Tour De France while I was living over there, and all I could think was: “I’ve never seen so many men with less leg hair than me!” However, after seeing ‘Premium Rush’, I have a newfound admiration for anyone who can commandeer such a small mode of transportation through areas that aren’t meant to be fit through safely.

THE GOOD: ‘Premium Rush’ is the st...

Review: Premium Rush

In desperate times like this, audiences need something original to enjoy during the summer instead of being pounded over the head again and again with remakes, sequels, prequels, and whatnot. The latest blockbuster is the small, but fast, Premium Rush, a gig that was written and directed by David Koepp, and features great talents such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Shannon, and Dania Ramirez. Is Premium Rush a great film? No, but it's at least a good breath of fresh air.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Wilee, a New York City bike messanger who is the absolute best at what he does. He's aggressive and full of ambition. His job is to get from point A to point B to deliver some sort of message, riding at incredible speed through cars, busses, taxis, and pedestrians. He rides the fixie, w...
