A gritty cop drama touted as Sly's attempt at serious acting. He is not too bad actually, really just reprising the shambling Rocky Balboa character, but it's really the excellent supporting cast that makes the film work. |

Feels like a mishmash of discarded parts of crime films like Goodfellas and Casino and it's composed largely of cast from those films. Despite an attempt to recreate the mood of those films, the plot and characters, simply, aren't as compelling or strong. |

HAD to watch this, mainly because of how great the cast is (Liotta! Stallone!!, Keitel!!!, De Niro!!!!) and was not disappointed. The basic plot isn't exactly original - one cop in a small town against a bunch of corrupt cops - but it still made for a pretty interesting watch, especially seeing these actors interact with each other. It plays out quite predictable and there weren't any surprises to be had story wise along the way, but I was able to look past this minor detail and enjoy it for what it is, an interesting and fairly engaging crime drama that unfortunately falls short of being anything more than just good. |

It starts promising with a nice little introduction to what will be the bigger plot, but it descends into a typical, by-the-numbers cop thriller. They stab each other in the back, they fight, some of them are corrupt and some are not. Its all been done before and better, but the finale, which sees Sylvester Stallone kicking some cop ass is great and very cinematic. If only the rest of the film had been so ambitious. |

This really should have been great. It's not. Everyone but Stallone and Liotta just phone their performances in. DeNiro and Keitel are there for a pay-check and it shows. The story is decent but it's the performances that hurt this movie. |
