Not as good as I hoped, Heard it was or hyped to be.I was majorly disappointed.I REALLY expected it to be better then it was but it just felt like something to watch & nothing more.I did like Bill Murray as Frank Quinn & Lucas Black as Buddy though |

You couldn’t get much more low key than this drama about a feisty hermit who emerges after forty years to throw his own funeral party, an interesting premise and one that’s executed to perfection. Bill Murray plays the undertaker charged with organising the event and Robert Duvall is his client. Sissy Spacek and Bill Cobb complete an excellent cast.
There’s plenty of droll humour, though eventually a tale of sin and redemption emerges - like Duvall’s own The Apostle. He’s absolutely outstanding here, giving a performance that is understated yet dominating. The pace is slow, the dialogue clipped and the brooding mood sustained throughout. A wonderful film.

Most of the scenes in this movie are pretty good. But the ending, however, was a bit disappointing. |

A very understated film, with very understated performances, that may be a little too understated for its good. A man decides to have a funeral party for what seems because he wants to see what people would say about him, but you get the sense (and with good reason) that there's something else going on. There are some decent performances here, particularly from Duvall and Murray, but in the long run things just move too slow and it isn't long before your mind is drifting. |
