A film that is interesting due to the fact that it is historically accurate enough, although it is fairly easy to notice when it is not accurate and that it is a recent event. The film is an effective and interesting thriller. With a original and very real character. This is one where they show you exactly who he was but it is impossible to figure him out because no ever figured the person out in real life. |

I like the fact this is based on a true, and recent story. It does make it compelling, but, for me, it was also completely boring. I never identified with any of the characters and found myself drifting. |

With all the glamourized CIA films, people tend to have this idea that working for the CIA is action-packed. Working for the CIA is a job. And like most jobs, it can get pretty tiresome. I like how this film is true to that. I think this is a smart and expertly written thriller. This is a sleeper hit; though many people may not recognize its brilliance and not a lot of people will get to see this, it is an undeniably enjoyable peek at how someone's career is made and broken. |

A must see! |

This is a very good movie, based on the real life investigation of Robert Hannssen, who for years passed confidential information to the Russians. Chris Cooper plays Hannssen in a way that is very surprising. You know right away what Hannssen's crimes are, yet at times you still sympathize with him even though he's guilty of treason. Ryan Phillippe plays Eric O'Neill, the up-and-comer in the FBI placed to spy on Hannssen and provide information. Both he and Cooper are very strong, and Laura Linney and Dennis Haysbert do well as O'Neill's supervisors. There's lots of suspense, even though you know how it ends (the movie begins with John Ashcroft's press conference on the matter). The film does take some dramatic license with certain events, which is acknowledged, but at it's core is ... |
