Blown Away (1994) review

Lt. Jimmy Dove (Jeff Bridges) is about to retire and settle down with Kate (Suzy Amis). Ryan Gaerity (Tommy Lee Jones) was able to break out of prison. Anthony Franklin (Forest Whitaker) is the replacement of Jimmy who tries to know his real identity. The antagonist had a good build-up, if only Tommy Lee Jones didn't have to play an Irishman. Soundtrack was suited, slow-motions and flashbacks well utilized. There was a nice touch in terms of creating humor during tense situations since the audience never knows when the bomb would explode. Final fight scene was almost superhuman like after the scuffle. Bridges always gives a sincere and powerful performance. Screenplay somewhat simplistic yet effective in a way such as "Things always workout for the best." and "I hate guns." from G...
