A haunting and beautiful film that hinges on the quiet performances of the two leads.

I guess I liked it more than I wanted to. Most of it was kind of a lame coming-of-age buddy story that went wrong, not for the script but for the friends. Matthew Modine's performance affected me much more than I thought it would. The relationship between him and his birds was very touching.
