This has to be 1 of the dumbest movies of all times & I HATED every minute of it.I HATED the TV show & now I HATE the movie.The best thing about The Beverly Hillbillies was Cloris Leachman as Granny.I did kinda like Diedrich Bader for a minute or 2 there as Jethro but eventually the act got annoying.I could not watch it through till the end & turned it off.I suggest not wasting your time or $$$ on this garbage

There have been terrible adaptions from TV to film, and this movie fits easily into that terrible category. Whereas The Brady Bunch movie was fun in a campy kind of way, Hillbillies makes no such attempt to embrace its nature and instead feels just plain dumb. Avoid if possible.

Another 90's update of an old t.v. show This is probably the worst of the bunch. It doesn't do much of anything, except bore.

If you liked the original TV series then you are already familiar here with the plot of this movie: Arkansas bumpkin Jed Clampett strikes oil on his own land while shooting jackrabbits for dinner. He becomes a billionaire and heads out for the lifestyle that he can now afford in Beverly Hills. Of course there is Rob Schneider as an evil bank assistant and girlfriend Lea Thompson who wants to take the riches for themselves and plan to swindle the Clampetts out of it all. Cloris Leachmen makes a great Granny but the bright spot of the movie was Lily Tomlin as Miss Jane Hathaway and Diedrich Bader was hysterical as Jethro Bodine. It may be predictable but there are lots of funny moments here. Look out for cameos of Zsa Zsa Gabor, Miguel Ferrer, Dolly Parton and Buddy Ebsen as Rockford.
