I enjoyed this modern adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. I have been meaning to read the book and then saw the movie on HBO so I gave it a try. I could see that they had tried to cram in a lot of material, some of the relationships feel rushed and kind of unbelievable. It's definitely cute but now I really want to read the book because I suspect it's quite a bit better.

"Beastly" defines love beyond physical beauty. Kyle (Alex Pettyfer), a good-looking teenager has been cursed by someone he had treated badly. She turned him into an ugly man and only he will come back to his real appearance when someone tells him "I love you". From the beginning of the film, I knew it would give not that much. It struggles on how would be the twists and turns of this fairy-tale plot. Performances by actors sorta turned me off and there were shots I thought to be awkward ones. Nothing, really as if this movie is not a work of art (sorry for that). Though, I did like the last 4 scenes of the film. :D

Ok this is the prime reason whilst reading up about a film i want to see i generally ignore the bad reviews and see the film anyways so i can basically judge with my own eyes and opinion. Beastly is nowhere near as a bad as so many have said it was. I found it to be a great 'updated' version of the 'Beauty And The Beast' tale of old. Sure we can watch the same old story revamped but this is different this time as director Daniel Barnz totally puts his own spin on it which makes it modern and more interesting for the intended audience (pre teen girls im guessing) Newbie actor and current heartthrob Alex Pettyfer portrays Kyle Kingston, an attractive and very popular student, which of coarse also makes him the most conceited.

Upon winning school valedictorion and announcing that he is …

A sweet if predictable teen romance!

Beastly is a modern day fairytale of "Beauty and the Beast." Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is a high school senior who has been raised to believe that it is good looks that make people like you. He’s cute, popular and has a rich daddy. His arrogant hobby is to humiliate anyone who didn't fit in his category of normal.

When he embarrasses the wrong girl at a school rally, she turns him into a “hideous beast”. Kendra just happens to be a real witch pretending to be a high school student. To show Kyle the same level of compassion that she got from him, she curses him with a year to find someone who truly loves him for who he is or he'll be Beastly forever. His only hope for redemption is Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) a humble, average looking girl whose quirky personality wins her the heart of …
