Lord Of The Hacks Joel Schumacher managed to completely undo everything Tim Burton was trying to achieve in re-inventing Batman by being packing this vulgar sequel to bursting with dayglo costumes, lame one-liners and corny characters. Jim Carrey also manages to be even more annoying than usual. Awful. |

Unfortunately even with a tremendously talented cast, it fails in all aspects as a Batman flick. One of many ludicrous things noticeable were the lack of characterization and pain of Two-Face, nipples protruding on a bat suit, cartoonish effects, Batman's identity easily being revealed, Batcave so easily infiltrated, and more. Only Jim Carrey as The Riddler was entertaining and suitable in his role. Overloaded with too much characters, ineffective action and cheesy dialogue doesn't make Batman forever a good movie. Kids would definitely enjoy this one though. |

A weird mix of elements from the first two films played in an over-the-top manner. The villains take center stage and the result is less enjoyable. |

The beginning of campiness for the Batman series (before the Nolan reboot), but it's not half as bad as Batman & Robin. Jim Carrey actually gives an inspired performance, I believe, as the Riddler. |

Was that over the top? I can never tell. |

Batman Returns was too dark for some people, so they decided to get rid of Tim Burton and get somebody who can deliver a more light-hearted affair. Enter Joel Schumacher, and enter the beginning of the end of every good thing about the previous Batman films. All of the intrigue, the complexities, and the excitement that came with Burton’s films have been replaced with campiness, bad acting, and a pretty forgettable script. Batman Forever isn’t the worst movie ever made, but considering the two films that came before it, it is very disappointing.
The story involves Two-face and The Riddler this time around as the main villains. The Riddler (played perfectly by Jim Carrey) plans to suck the brainwaves out of Gotham’s residents through a box on their TVs and transfer them to his own brain... |
