An interesting look at the early start of a band that would become The Beatles. "Backbeat" isn't just about the music, its about the relationships. Notably the relationship between John Lennon and art school buddy Stu Sutcliffe. There's also the romance occurring between Sutcliffe and German artist Astrid Kilcher. An excellent flashback film, plus the music's good.
