i like this film very much. scenes were entertaining and exciting. i enjoyed watching greek mythological films again, but its ancient myth is attached to modern times. unlike the ones i've watched before were only very ancient. nice to see some of the actors/actresses again, such as, uma thurman as medusa and steve coogan as hades. i like them being part of the film. |

This film touches on nothing we aren't already familiar with, including the legend of Medusa, the Hydra, and Zeus vs Hades, but it is fun to see Greek mythology clashing with modern settings, such as Nashville or Las Vegas. The cast is likable and there are some familiar faces that pop up, including odd cameos from Uma Thurman and Rosario Dawson. The special effects are impressive and though the film doesn't tread any new ground, it's a fun and entertaining romp that makes up for lack of originality with pure energy. |

It can't hold a candle to any of the more recent Harry Potter films, which it is clearly trying to emulate, but any film that can make mythology even a bit interesting, even exciting, deserves recognition. I especially like Uma Thurman's Medusa - quite the looker. |

Though I was entertained by this movie, I couldn't help but think it could have been better. Seems like they tried to make a movie that was appealing to both kids and adults (a'la Harry Potter) but at times it was either too geared to kids or trying too hard to be entertaining to adults. Nonetheless, I was entertained for 2 hours, the story is decent, and the effects are strong. |

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief |
|
We all dream of having certain powers we can use. Percy Jackson accidentally finds his and battles different gods. The effects were impressive, action was present and the creation Medusa, the Hydra, Zeus and Hades were creative. This film could have been better with the write script and additional promotion. It was not as popular as one of the Harry Potter films; at least this captivated the imagination of the viewers. If only there were other twists to the story, then it could have been a franchise. ... |

Low Brow. |
|
Percy Jackson begins with a clever premise, and shows the giant god that is Poseidon arising to the shores of New York. Atop Mount Olympus, which is now hidden within the Empire State Building, Zeus accuses Poseidon's demigod son of stealing his lightning bolt. Zeus will wage war on the Earth if it isn't returned in seven days.
Enter the demigod Percy, who has no clue what he is, as a new franchise begins to hope it can steal the Harry Potter mantle. Too bad, as Logan Lerman clearly shows in his big debut, that neither he nor the other actors can act their way out of a box. In the meantime centaurs, minotaurs, furies, Hades, Medusa, and even a hydra appear. This one is purely for the Nickelodeon and Hannah and iCarly crowds who may dig seeing winged Converse shoes and low brow sexual... |
