Plot Outline:

In the depths of the 1930's, Annie is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks. Quickly, she charms the hearts of the household staff and even the seemingly cold-hearted Warbucks cannot help but learn to love this wonderful girl. He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by offering a reward if they would come to him and prove their identity. However, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and a female accomplice, plan to impersonate those people to get the reward for themselves.

This reviewer has seen this as a child. Wonderful touching performances make this one of the more entertaining family musicals. It makes you think, "it's one of the films that they don't make anymore." Worth viewing even for those doubters of the genre.

Cute musical featuring plenty of memorable songs and a fine cast, led by Carol Burnett, Albert Finney, Tim Curry and, of course Annie herself Aileen Quinn. There are better musicals out there, but for families and music class, this may be at the top of the list.

1980's update of the musical is a good one.

The real star, of course,is the musical numbers that are lavishly reproduced. However, there are some heartfelt performances that put this film a step above the average musical.

A fun, fanciful family film that will have your toes tapping and your hearts warming, "Annie" is a classic of Broadway musicals hitting the big screen with just as much popularity. A great film to start youngsters out on to get them into the musical spirit.
