Frightening, if not at all plausible, adaptation of Jay Anson's best selling novel. The soundtrack is chilling, the acting brilliant, and the scares come at a good clip. |

The film has the potential to be very creepy, and they get most things right, except for the plot. The music, the effects, the look, are all unnerving but the story and the characters are so uninteresting that before the film is halfway through, it starts to plod along very slowly. Amityville II: The Possession actually works a lot better. |

I am including this film on my top horror list for several reasons. I have seen lots of horror movies and few give me nightmares. I had a nightmare about blood coming out of the walls and the deep scary voice saying "Get Out". Okay I was a kid when I saw it..it still creeped me out. |

While not a great horror film, this is still one of those iconic horror movies everyone should see once. This house ranks up there with the Bates Motel as being the most creepy abode, even if the story doesn't quite hold up. |
