Superior sequel that delivers more of worked in the first and less of what did not. The characters have grown more on me this time and the jokes come out at rapid fire. I laughed consistently. |

In my opinion, this is the funniest of the series. It opens up more character plots and stories that were pretty funny. King Julien and the Penguins should win awards for best supporting actors, haha. |

Doesn't quite capture the freshness of the first film, in humor or in animation quality. The voice cast is, once again, hit-and-miss, and the plot runs more like a second-rate Disney film, than an actual animation contender. |

Forget the main characters, the penguins and monkeys and a little old lady kept me watching this sequel. Sure the main cast goes through their own rites of passage, but it's the supporting cast that really made this worthwhile. |

Sequel Achieves Small Laughs, But Remains Sub-Par |
|
The 4 wild kings of the 'concrete jungle' pick up where they left off in Madagascar. They leave for New York New York, and end up crash landing in what seems to be Africa, and it helps them connect back to old roots.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa achieves nothing new or special, just hangs even with the original cartoon, which I didn't really seem to enjoy. It gains no advantage over it's predesessor, and definetly does not meet my standards and requirements, seeing as Pixar can do a much finer job. It seems that Dreamworks keeps throwing slabs of borderline animation projects into the screening rooms, and as more and more pile in, I think it's time to hang up the phone on Madagascar, if not most of Dreamworks cartoons.
Madagascar can be a bit funny, but for the wrong reasons. Poor Wr... |

Who says a penguin can't fly |
|
The most cunning and vicious creatures are definitely back. Yes I'm talking about the penguins, you’re probably expecting something else. It was really funny to see this flightless birds be as sophisticated as a military tactical team. Kind of weird I’m talking about them and they’re not even the stars of the show. Perhaps it’s because they stole the spot light on the real stars namely Alex and the gang. Well it would be fair to say this movie became ten times funnier because of them. Anyway the story was really intended for Alex, his struggles to become the Alpha Lion in his new tribe. As it goes deeply to how and why he ended up in a New York zoo and became performer that he is. My impression with the first Madagascar was really a mere kid’s flick. What they've done now is upped the sta... |
