Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith, Jr. (Eminem) at a local rap battle emceed byhis friend David "Future" Porter (Mekhi Phifer). The well casted drama was effective. Its director did a splendid job with the pace of the film and the music speaks for itself. Eminem was authentic in his performance considering the talents he was surrounded with. The semi-autobiographical of Eminem was entertaining, nothing groundbreaking but a treat to watch. 8 Mile has topics of friendship, maturity, believing in yourself and dreams. 8 Mile is worth a look for film fanatics who enjoy music, drama and underdogs. |

I liked it - a good message and Eminem does a good job acting, even if he is pretty much playing himself on screen. You don't even need a vested interest in rap to enjoy the movie, though you'll probably like it more if you do. |

Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine - from the top-notch acting of all the stars, to the fantastic soundtrack, to the way the "rags to riches" story is turned on its head. Eminem makes his on screen debut and it works so well because the story told is a personal one, yet, still completely relatable. |

Love him or loath him, its difficult to deny Eminem's influence on the music scene, in his debut movie, he plays a semi autobiographical version of himself which is hardly a stretch for Slim Shady but his screen magnetism is unquestionably visible..
8 mile is a unique almost "Rocky" like picture which uses Hip Hop as its fulcrum yet develops into something far more substantial.
A rags to rich story with an edge, a sprawling examination of the ghetto and urban poverty all seen through the eyes of an outsider |
