I was really expecting this movie to be terrific. And, in some ways it was. But, in most ways it was just a little bit too ridiculous for me.

A bizarre, but multi-leveled fantasy that doesn't quite get a grasp on its main characters, but provides some fascinating images along the way. Final Grade: B

Hand-Made Art

This film, as is the case with all Gondry works to date, is absolute charm and artistic-one-of-a-kind-gorgeousness.

The Science of Sleep is the first film to creatively capture my own foolish, over-romanticized ideas of love and relationships. It is almost painfully relatable at times, and the strikingly realistic acting makes such moments of beautiful reality that much more embarrassing.

Having been a huge fan of Bernal & Gainsbourg already, my devotion was further solidified after seeing them act in such an artistic project. Bernal in particular, displaying such vulnerability yet somehow maintaining a subtle dignity as Stephane, must have been a challenge. Gondry usually ='s awesome

Boring, that's all I can say about this film. Gondry, who directed two great films before this (Dave Chapelle's Block Party and Eternal Sunshine and numerous awesome music videos) brought his cheap and easy style of special effects to the big screen. But I felt the pacing was off and the film became stagnant and stale. I found myself caring less and less about the characters and more about checking my watch to see how much longer I had to sit through it.

Rock These Countries

In some ways, this movie hits too close to home. But in other ways it's just a good film with great actors, Charlotte Gainsbourg and G. G. Bernal (CUTE!). And while it feels sometimes that this is more of a music video than an actual movie, it is much better to have a Gondry movie than no Gondry movie at all.
